Diagnostic Ultrasound
Poole Bay Podiatry is very excited to announce the introduction of investigative diagnostic ultrasound to our range of services.
Podiatric musculoskeletal ultrasonography is a very powerful tool allowing the practitioner to visualise a wide array of foot and ankle problems.
We are one of only a very few podiatry practices locally to incorporate this form of assessment into our routine treatments.
Everyone knows that the essence of successful treatment relies upon an accurate underlying diagnosis. Having this new modern ultrasound machine will support our clinical decision making allowing our patients greater confidence in the treatment we prescribe.
The ability of having an image available immediately to illustrate to the patient what maybe contributing to their problem, is especially valuable
Ultrasound is used typically for investigating soft tissue problems, not bone conditions. Some of the foot disorders that ultrasound is used for are:
Morton’s Neuroma
Plantar fasciitis
Inter-metatarsal bursitis
Plantar plate injuries
Ganglion, cyst and bursa formations
Ligament injuries and joint inflammation
If your podiatrist suggests that an ultrasound investigation would be of benefit to confirm their diagnosis for you. They will explain clearly what exactly what this entails and discuss the outcomes of the investigation.
A foot and ankle ultrasound examination will not be a discrete service, but will be introduced into your routine podiatric foot and ankle assessment should it be necessary.
