Neurovascular Assessment

At Poole Bay Podiatry we often carry out a neurovascular assessment of the lower leg and foot as a routine part of your general foot care.

Monitoring neurovascular status is essential in early recognition of neurovascular deterioration.

A delay in recognising neurovascular compromise can lead to permanent foot and lower limb damage, loss of a limb and even death. Recognition of neurovascular deterioration is therefore crucial.

As part of your initial assessment your foot circulation will be checked and if there are any concerns a full Doppler procedure will be carried out.

Neurological testing and assessment should be carried out regularly for diabetic patients. However many MSK related conditions such as compartment syndromes (shin splints) can have neurological involvement.

Here at Poole Bay Podiatry, we are fully experienced to reassure any concerns you may have.
